Lemon Polenta Cake and Leather Book Wraps
Lemon polenta cake from Made by Bob in Cirencester was my reward for producing this leather book wrap on a recent course. This was a one-day course I did at the Shepherds Bookbinder store in Pimlico, London. Working with the fine blue goat leather, a delicate and patient hand was needed to achieve these impressive results. The results were in no small part a fruit of expert instruction from Shepherd’s skilled bookbinders. They do a number of courses throughout the year and the quality of the training clearly demonstrated, experience in teaching as well, of course, as a mastery of the craft. Shepherds Bookbinders have other courses coming up in London and Wiltshire. Details of the Leather Book Wrap course and other courses can be found on the Shepherd’s website.
The Lemon Polenta Cake was out of this world – Made by Bob never disappoint. I have a soft spot for their desserts (though this was the first time I had tried the lovely Lemon Polenta Cake). Made by Bob’s restaurant, located in a Roman Mall at the heart of the Cotwolds town doesn’t stop receiving praise in the national and local press. Reasonable prices and quality food make the cosy restaurant quite popular on weekends, so worth saving the trip for a weekday lunch there if you prefer to appreciate their delights in a more chilled ambiance.
Alongside the restaurant is the Made by Bob deli stocked with fresh tasty treats prepared to their recipes and well as cured meats, cheese and fresh produce of the calibre you’d expect from these guys. There’s information on how to get to Made by Bob on the website… one slice of the Lemon Polenta Cake will not ruin the New Year diet, trying to stop at one slice might be tricky though 😉
If you fancy trying Lemon Polenta cake and can’t get to Cirencester you might want to dust your apron off and try Nigela’s recipe, it also gets great reviews.
