Organic White Tea

Organic White Tea from Dragonfly tea is the feature of today’s post, after taking a look at English Breakfast Tea yesterday. Dragonfly is a British company who make fine teas. Their entire range is certified by the Organic Food Federation, they are members of the Fairtrade Foundation and Rainforest Alliance. And on top of all that, their tea isn’t half bad!

Does organic white tea combat aging?

Tea is high in “life-lengthening” polyphenols. White tea is made from the first tea buds, which means it is high in polyphenols, more than other teas. A study has shown that drinking white tea can help prevent wrinkles forming. The research found that extracts in white tea inhibited wrinkle production by strengthening elastin and collagen. Elastin and collagen can feature in the appearance of fine wrinkles. Other research shows white tea can has anti-aging benefits below the skin too – it can keep your joints younger.

Why oats, quinoa and blueberry for breakfast?

The Organic White Tea is shown beside a bowl of oats, quinoa and blueberries which might provide a well needed energy boost at breakfast. Quinoa has a low GI and is a complete protein. GI is the glycemic index and indicates the effect on blood sugar levels. A low GI food will release glucose (sugar) more slowly and steadily increase blood sugar levels, and, may help you feel fuller for longer according to the NHS. A complete protein contains all nine essential amino acids, making at good source of proteins for vegans and vegetarians, according to Men’s Fitness. Essential amino acids are those that cannot be synthesised by the body and so must be supplied by diet. Oats in poridge are a good source of vitamin B, which helps maintain energy levels and metabolism. Blueberries are a superfood packed with anti-oxidants which boost brainpower and help prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Is there a better way to start your day?
