Avocado – 10 Slimming foods to eat every day

With the Christmas festivities and indulgences over, and the focus now being on “new year, new me” we thought we’d start the working year with some foods that might help dieters. This comes from a Harper’s Bazaar article. We’ve taken some pics and added a little information about each food. The first to feature, today, is avocado – the fatty fruit with a nutty flavour.

Avocado, according to the Harper’s Bazaar article, is high in appetite-suppressing healthy fats. It can take up to six hours to digest and is rich in L-carnitine – an amino acid which may fuel your metabolism.

Besides L-carnitine, avocado contains the hunger-control hormone leptin. What’s more avocado may raise dopamine levels and increase endorphins, which may help to lift your mood. A comfort food, filled with healthy fats which may suppress your appetite – what more could you want?
